The strong performance of our four offices throughout May has continued during the first week of Summer. The market remains highly energised following the relaxation of the lockdown measures and we are starting to see good levels of new stock become available in each of our locations.  Hundreds of discerning buyers continue to register and it promises to be extremely busy over the next few months, as we return to a more normal way of life.

Some interesting reports have emerged over the last couple of days which you may find of interest. The Government has announced the extension to the three-year period in which people have to reclaim the 3% Stamp Duty Land Tax surcharge.  People who’ve purchased a new home but were unable to sell their old home before the required timescale expired - due to Covid-19, will soon be able to reclaim the surcharge if they sell their old home as soon as possible, saving them tens of thousands of pounds.  The change will apply to old homes sold from the start of this year where it can be shown that the sale fell through due to the pandemic.  The deadline for selling their old home is being relaxed by the Government who realise that it is extremely difficult to sell residential property at this time.
